Frog:
“Toad, Toad, wake up. It is May now.”
“Why are you banging your head against the wall?”
“Don’t be silly. What you see is the clear warm light of April.”
“Toad, Toad! Wake up. It is spring!”
“You have been asleep since November.”
“I wrote ‘Dear Toad, I am glad that you are my best friend. Your best friend, Frog.'”
“But I always look green; I am a frog.”
“The sun is shining! The snow is melting. Wake up!”
“Would you like me to tell you a story?”
“Turtle, you will have to go away.”
“What a day for a swim.”
“Yes. Look at your calendar.”
“But, Toad, I will be lonely until then.”
“I think that snow was trying to catch the sun.”
“I do not think so. I think that the snow was trying to catch us.”
“Tomorrow, I will wake up, eat breakfast, and go on a long walk.”
“Then I will do some drawing and some writing. After that, I will eat a big lunch, and take a long nap.”
“In the afternoon, I will gather some sticks and some leaves. I will build a nice warm fire. Then I will sit by the fire and toast some marshmallows.”
“A list of all the things I would do tomorrow, if I did not have to go back home.”
“If I never had to stop fishing, I would never go home at all.”
“We will skip through the meadows and run through the woods and swim in the river. In the evenings, we will sit right here on this front porch and count the stars.”
“Once upon a time, there were two good friends: a frog and a toad.”
“He asked his friend the toad to tell him a story.”
“He walked up and down on the porch, but he could not think of a story.”
“The frog was feeling better. So the toad went to bed, and the frog got up and told him a story.”
Toad:
“I think you will be happy to know that I am just as green as you are.”
“Why is it that you seem to want me to change so much?”
“The seasons have changed. I am not the same as I was in November.”
“Frog, I cannot help the way I am. Why do you expect me to change?”
“I would like to be more like you, Frog. But I am just a Toad.”
“Frog, I am doing my best to be a good friend.”
“I am sorry, Frog. But sometimes I just need to be alone.”
“I hope you understand, Frog. I am not trying to be difficult.”
“Frog, you have always been there for me. And I am grateful for that.”
“I know I am not perfect. But I am trying, Frog. I really am.”
“I do appreciate your friendship, Frog. More than you know.”
“I know I can be a bit stubborn sometimes. But I do listen, Frog. I really do.”
“You have taught me so much, Frog. And I am thankful for that.”
“I hope you can be patient with me, Frog. I am doing my best.”
“Frog, I want to be a good friend to you. I really do.”
“I know I have a lot to learn. But I am willing to try, Frog.”
“Frog, I am grateful for your understanding.”
“I know I can be a bit difficult at times. But I am trying to change, Frog.”
“You have always been there for me, Frog. And I appreciate that.”
“I hope you can see that I am trying, Frog. I really am.”
“I am thankful for your friendship, Frog. More than you know.”
“I know I have my faults. But I am working on them, Frog.”
“I hope you can be patient with me, Frog. I am doing my best.”
“You have taught me so much, Frog. And I am grateful for that.”
“Frog, I am thankful for your understanding.”
“I know I can be a bit difficult at times. But I am trying to change, Frog.”

Thank You.
